Is this bulb working?
If it does you could use the bulbs light to create a fantastic gradient effect over the background ( it looks like a "metallic" wallpaper ).I can see some small nails holding together those 2 pieces.
You could frame the bulb in one of the sides ( the way it is now is "dead center" ) left or right,keeping the rule of thirds & the light from the bulb will create lots of shadows ( bringing out the texture of the wall ) & a gradient effect ( strong light close to the bulb that fades out traveling on the wall ).
When some one has an idea ( in cartoons mostly ) the bulb "lights on".
If the bulb was ON it would fit perfectly with the idea you are trying to impress....
Just some thoughts IMHO.
Some great ideas you've got but, unfortunately, the bulb was not working. It was in an abandoned house. I loved the wallpaper and thought the hanging bulb just seemed like a cool shot against that great textured paper.
What a shame...
I just want you to know that your photo is not bad at all.
It's very nice the way it is now.
I love old stuff & ruins.
