Yes, it's supposed to be dark - to suggest that the only lighting is coming from the TV set.
I like this. I think I'd bump the contrast a little....I don't know...but I really do like it!
The reason you can't sleep is because those slippers are giving you night mares :P
But I love my "bear feet!"
Maybe adding a candle or something for some extra interesting light source would have been nice. I like the idea of the scene & laughing about the others' comments on the slippers
