The common goldeneye is a diving duck. This is the male in its breeding colors, having wintered in the San Francisco Bay area. (description added for clarification) (5 years and 944 days ago)
You are incorrect. The bird's name is goldeneye, more specifically "common goldeneye". As such, it clearly fits the requirements of the contest. Here's the wikipedia entry in case that would be helpful: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_goldeneye
Thank you.
Photograph something starting with the letter G, in English.
We are looking for objects. Not names of people, places or adjectives.
If not obvious, please name the object.
A handsome boy indeed. A different composition, giving him more room to flow into (following rule of 3 in photography) would strengthen the shot. A few pops of overexposure evident. Are you shooting on A mode or Manual? Do try manual, just bite the bullet and you will see your creative powers will increase.
Great comments as always, still. I was shooting in S mode to get the droplets sharp. You're going to get me out of the "birder shot" mentality!
Is that a good thing or a bad thing?
It depends. What appeals to you and me artistically doesn't necessarily translate commercially. The smack dab centered birds on a note card are really popular.
Yes, if that is what you are gunning for, it is a subjective arena we are talking about... are you having this made into a card?
Yes, part of a series.
That is exciting I know you will do well, congrats!
Howdie stranger!
