I also know a lot of people who don't like them, though I don't know why 
I find it interesting that I, who usually hates snakes, find this fellow rather sweet looking and endearing, no doubt it is because of the way you composed him. The eye catch is really well done and that is the first thing I saw, were those innocent eyes and he looks almost frightened of that lens of yours. You captured him well, he is sharp as a pin, and the colour is real without overcooking in any aspect. The dof is also nice with softness as we look in but enough to show his habitat. Also, you do not have anything that competes with his portrait. I think we ought to give him a name....how about HARRY !
