Symmetry mostly. My camera maxes at 400 m and the crop quadrupled the focal length bringing out the details. The composition looked right to my eye and well.....I just liked it!

Actually I like your crop even though the pundits will tell you to use square format with round objects, but we all know rules are for fools and ought to be broken. I like the "vastness" of sky felt with your presentation it works. Thank you for your response.
The depth and vastness is exactly the desired effect. I rarely follow coventional photo techniques because.....I see things uniquely and thus, do things outside the box as it speaks to ME. Even when the critics speak, its a win for me because they "looked". So many conformists just become obscure in the crowd of ordinary. Glad you like this and remember to strive to do what please YOU!
