I can see where you are coming from, but the leaves looks more like old dried ones than new spring leaves.

those are not the leaves but some fluffy, yellow long buds that come just before the leaves appear.

I replaced the photo based on the focus comments. I believe this reflects a better focus on the sole remaining flower. Thanks for the advice.
