Beautiful picture. I'm just curious, with such a long exposure, how did you manage to keep all the boats perfectly sharp? I'd imaging they would be bobbing around a bit. Can you share your technique, Id love to try this.
This was actually 200 or so 25 sec exposures stacked together in a program called StarStaX.
Very cool picture, almost a timelapse of sorts. Congrats on a great image.
Nicely done author...I still need to try this technique, but my timing is terrible, when I have the time, the conditions suck for such a shot, when the conditions are good, I don't have the time to get to an interesting location. Very interesting entry indeed.

This was taken in TN this week as a tornado was forming ahead on the highway. (5 years and 3454 days ago)
This is a great shot, but I would crop it a little closer for a better effect.
Wow, kinda look like fire. Ho and I agree with Friiskiwi, I would crop the picture a bit. Good luck.
Mikaelbg, I thought the same thing at first. I thought it was smoke, especially because I didn't see it twirling. I had never seen a real tornado before, but my sister said it was one for sure. You can tell because it is coming down from the clouds, not going up. See that one little cloud on the left...it is being pulled down. I'm actually glad that I wasn't sure it was at first because I am deathly afraid of tornadoes.
I did just crop it too...is it still not cropped enough?
It's better! Must be scary, i'm glad I don't live in a tornado area !
tornado's are pretty scary like in Oklahoma it becomes a normal thing lol
