In the village of Komaki, 45 minutes from the central city of Nagoya, there is a shrine devoted to the phallus. Each spring, the old and young alike come here to see an enormous wooden penis carried through the streets, to eat penis shaped sweets, and to make a penis-spirited wish to god.

The tradition is thought to have begun around 1,500 years ago. A springtime celebration, the "penis festival", or Honen-sai Matsuri, is carried out to bring fertility and a good harvest to the people.

Available in this shrine are small wooden penises for sale. You then can write down your wishes on your little cock and place it in the shrine. (5 years and 785 days ago)

What a big quantity!
Anyway is a bit too aseptic. The goal is to achieve "the same mouth-watering reaction as the smell of freshly baked bread or the taste of a perfectly grilled steak."

I can see a lot of yummy looking things there I'd like to try, but you might have wanted to get a little closer on fewer dishes for the theme

I agree with both of the above comments, "aseptic," - [metaphorical] lacking emotion, human warmth, or excitement, in particular.
This is a VERY nice photograph of a wide variety of food, showing good lighting, composition, and color. But it does not inspire any mouth watering reaction.

Sometimes, less is more. I think this would have been stronger with less dishes, and a more intimate shot of one or two, to visually inspire the taste buds, as well as the eye.
