I think it is awesome that you brought other elements into the shot to add to the photo, but the placement of the shoes don't do much for the photo. I think if you moved them around a bit, you could get a great shot with the surrounding 
Yes, some family members suggested that but I thought I just liked the way it was. Thanks, and I'll work on that in the future.
