The blur on the RH side is distracting, especially since you cut off the LH edge of the book. You might consider cropping that blurry part off, which would help direct the focus back onto your subject.

What is the black thing behind the apple, it's rather distracting.
It's the book's illustrative inner cover. The thick black band is meant to convey an unseen, unknowable sense of dreadful foreboding as the book is about the time when Adam & Eve were "expelled" from Eden and the birth of their first child, a time period, (perhaps about 9 months), which the Old Testament of the Christian Bible is completely silent of.
