What in the world....? A piece of a barnacle, or coral? Got me stumped, Well done!
What is this.... I am completely boggled. It's an enigma, wrapped in a conundrum.
You were actually fairly close with your first guess.
I have a piece of agatized Brain Coral about the size of a bowling ball which has been cut in half. This is the view of the INSIDE of that ball.
Very cool and very ingenious!!!
