There are 13 primary stones, the tallest of which marks the entrance to a burial cairn. One theory suggests that the stones form a calendar system based on the position of the moon. Local tradition says that giants who lived on the island refused to be converted to Christianity and were turned into stone as a punishment.

The Bible story about David and Goliath comes to mind. Thanks for sharing this picture and story. I love this kind of stuff, I'm with eladine I believe in giants too. BTW great cartographic description... geography is cool.
