Abandoned in 1442, the ruins of Rait Castle are said to be haunted by the ghost of a girl with no hands. See: http://www.saveraitcastle.org/ghost.htm (5 years and 2948 days ago)
Edinburgh Castle is historically the principal royal fortress of Scotland since at least the reign of David I in the 12th century. Mary Queen of Scots gave birth to James VI, King of Scotland on 19 June 1566 at the castle. In 1603 James acceded to the throne of England unifying both Scotland and England under one monarch. The Honours of Scotland (Scotland's crown jewels) and the Stone of Destiny (the Coronation Stone) are kept at Edinburgh Castle. (5 years and 2967 days ago)

Duffus Castle, near Elgin, Moray, Scotland, was a motte-and-bailey castle and was in use from c.1140 to 1705. During its occupation it underwent many alterations. The most fundamental was the destruction of the original wooden structure and its replacement with one of stone. At the time of its establishment, it was one of the most secure fortifications in Scotland. At the death of the 2nd Lord Duffus in 1705, the castle had become totally unsuitable as a dwelling and so was abandoned. (5 years and 2969 days ago)

The castle of Burgundy in Estaimbourg, the central place of the town activities, was built in 1854 on the orders of Charles of Burgundy, mayor of Estaimbourg from 1835 to 1886. The castle is located in an ornamental garden. It is surrounded by water, stone buildings. In the neighbourhood you will discover outbuildings in a neoclassical style.
(I live at almost 500m of that castle, walking in its park is a real pleasure !) (5 years and 2969 days ago)
