On December 21st, 2012, one of the most important cycles in the Mayan calendar ends. This is the 5,125-year cycle that is also known as the 13 baktuns. On this day the winter solstice sun rises in conjunction with the center of our Galaxy. Some say on this day the world as we know it ends. This is only entered for this contest, not to scare anyone. recent research has found that the Mayan calender goes on past this date, why would the do that if they believed the world would end at this date.
As I said, the world "as we know it" ends. The Mayans believed the world has been destroyed several times before, and humanity was "remade" (whatever that means) in some way so that "life" could again continue. As I said it is only for this contest, not to start a debate as it is a matter of belief. For the record, I don't believe in it though I enjoy reading about it. I actually bet 2 bottles of wine with a friend that nothing extraordinary will happen to the world on that day, except last minute Christmas shopping? But if it does happen, my friend will have a 'difficult' time collecting his 2 bottles of wine.
Shouldn't you wait until the 20th to sell your camera?
Actually I've thought of not selling because if it really happens there should be some great photo opportunities; but then again it will happen only on the 21st and not the 20th. So, to be on the safe side, I may still be able to cash in the old faithful a couple of days earlier, and if nothing happens, well, I still have the cash for another camera, and life goes on, literally

Not what you expect in the middle of summer. (5 years and 2992 days ago)
i would expect it her ein the middle of the winter i havent seen one snowflake yet o.o;
Not too much snow, still a very nice and interesting picture in its own right. It conveys the feeling of a harsh and pretty cold winter day. Lovely
