isn't it the fibers that gives out the light

author says:

Each fiber has a light on the tip (.led light )

Fantastic shot author...super cool colors and the lighting...best of luck

Actually I believe fiber optics work by a light source underneath and the normally "clear" fibers take on the character of the light transmitted through them...the fibers only appear to glow and are not technically in and of themselves a light source.

author says:

itsmymoment ,that is correct, they look like clear plastic tubes but have a small lit tip and color wheel on the bottom which illuminates the plastic through reflection.

Very nice. Almost looks like a blossom. Might've liked a darker background to make the fibers stand out more

Very nice!

author says:

Thanks everyone, and kyricom I tried to do that at first but found I needed more light on the backside to get better visability of the tubing. they came out looking very blurry that way.

avatar UncleJimmy

wonderful...try this...use the dark background and inbetween the backdrop and the subject, apply a light directed at the subject...use a tripod and shoot it the way you did in this one...I think you'll like the results.

author says:

Itsmymoment thank you, I better get my flash lite battery's charged lol

avatar Gyllenblue
