its common to see grain elevators along the stretch of roads between one small town and another in our part of the country...some still in operation...this one...abandoned after a new state of the art elevator was constructed in a town 10 minutes from this one. (5 years and 3497 days ago)

Very nice. Just a little more sky over the tower would have made it seem "taller"
i thought the same thing kyricom, but alas, i couldn't get a good angle and allow more sky without comprimising the quality of the detail in the building. its really quite small for a grain elevator as most farm community people know. this grain elevator probably hasn't been in operation for 30+ years...and has seen a few tornadoes come its way. that is what happened to the tin on the side. :P there was a grain bin next to it that had been completely crushed by the last tornado that went through that area.
