These actuator or access arms were used for multiple disk Winchester Hard Drive disks, and were so named because of the arcing motion they make as they read the disks - similar to the cocking motion used on Winchester repeating rifles. (5 years and 3014 days ago)
An other fantastic self portrait. I'm in awe.
These are interesting parts, but the paper and the table edge are distracting from your subject. Perhaps try reshooting and resubmit. The lighting and shadows might be very interesting. Just my opinion. Good luck.
This was one of those "learning experiences," where you stupidly forget to get EVERYTHING away from around what you are photographing, and then end up stuck with odd bits...lol! Your comment is spot on, and I will try to pay better attention next time. Thank you very much!
Nice sharp photo, but I feel something more interesting could have been done with those parts.
Agreed, friiskiwi, but the several more "formal" arrangements I tried just looked horribly contrived and "artificial." In the end, I just put them together to capture their unique shapes and interesting assembly.
This photography stuff is definitely harder than one would think!
Howdie stranger!
