i've made thist witch an basket fillted with an assortment of wadding and steelwool. When you fire this mixure the steelwool begeins to glow and small glowing ferreous particles are flung out of the basket.
Then a friend was singing the basket by walking backwards... thaths it..
the green light on the siedes and the top i've mad whith a flash light and a green filter foil on it. i walked trought the tunnel and flasht mannually...

My opinion is that the focus should have been done on the foreground instead of the background. Due to the small DOF you used, We have here the sensation that everything is out of focus.
i have the kind of shot you are talking about. but, what i felt is that if i blur the foreground and focus on the background, the person is urged to watch the photograph till the end. had i focused on the foreground, i think the depth would have been absent.
