I took this photo on my stove at home. The only photo manipulation done was a levels adjustment. (5 years and 3603 days ago)

avatar Govindrathod

I guess its a little off theme....its a house to water i guess...

avatar friiskiwi
friiskiwi says:

Why is this home? and you don't need to keep saying "The only photo manipulation done was .." it tends to identify you. General details really aren't needed.

avatar kyricom
kyricom says:

Things cooking on the stove could certainly signify "home," but water? It does tend to identify you if you say the same comment on each description... but not as much as your signature in the lower right. That need to be removed as per the rules. Entries must be anonymous.

author says:

Gotcha. I was adding that because when you enter it you're supposed to list all the manipulations you did, aren't you? That's that it said. Anyway, to me there's nothing that represents home to me more than cooking.

Cooking is homely, but boiling water?

author says:

i understand what you guys are saying, i guess i just boil a lot of stuff at my home... tea, vegetables, fruit, etc., maybe not everyone else does.

avatar mperri
mperri says:

Maybe if you showed the tea bags, a tea cup, or something else that told us why boiling water is home, the image would be more effective... but, you are indeed right, the idea is subjective!

avatar adeincyprus

author, it is your interpretation, stick with it............good effort.

avatar mperri
mperri says:

Ade... and that is the beauty of "subjectiveness"!

How do you shoot this kind if photos author.Could you share with us the technique you use.I saw this kind of photos many times but i can't understand how this is done.I guess you used flash, & a solid background but what about the shadows...?You use an external flash & fire it up from the left...?What was the settings on your camera...?Any help would be useful!Great "freeze" of the liquid.

avatar mellanieb
mellanieb says:

Hmmm, this is a great image, but my questions are the same as karaflazz - amazing image please explain how we could create the same.

avatar pioan
pioan says:

NICE! Do you use a sound trigger?

avatar adeincyprus

lol......I also have a question.............who cleans up the mess after your shoots.........

avatar karaflazz
karaflazz says:

Hahahaha....ade you are funny you know that...?

author says:

Thanks for the great comments. Like Karaflazz i saw photos like this about a year ago and also puzzled at how it was done, I scaned the net with no luck and spent ages experimenting with milk splashing and flashguns. It was only when i stopped thinking along the normal way a fast photo is taken it all fell into place, The satisfaction i get from each shot is much bigger because i worked the technique out for myself and gained lots more knoledge along the way. The set up is as Karaflazz describes, except the picture is actually upside down,Mug glued to glass and the liquid is falling!

author says:

No sound trigger used, The chocolate didnt make any noise untill it landed! And i shot this outside and cleaned up with the help of a neighbours dog!
