Re-shot with dark background that allowed for better focus. Better.
well done

This kind of technique was foreign to me to this day, so I had the opportunity of discovering the little miracles one can pull, providing of-course one knows what one does, which isn't the case with me!! And it was only after the end of the ... photo session when I discovered that the strong sun was ruining everything for me. (5 years and 3037 days ago)
Author, not a bad job for learning. Very nice attempt. I see by your SBS, shot 2 and shot 3 look identical. In strong sun, try a properly exposed image, 2 stops under and only 1 stop over...might work a bit better to keep highlights from blowing out and get better shadow detail. Good Luck
Based on the example given with the topic, I discovered that too, but it was too late for amends. A little encouragement, itsmymoment, is more than welcome, and for this I can't thank you enough
Thanks, jfish

This is one thing where you wouldn't want a macro shot, well done.
Cool shot. The rest of his body blurred in the background really helps it. (Hard to tell from this angle, but it just looks like a Garter Snake - they couldn't hurt you if they wanted to)
I think you're right...probably a garter. However, in the back of my mind I'm never sure. We have pigmy rattlers here as well. It does have some pretty cool DOF for both grass and snake.

a "Blast from the Past!" Great. I remember how we all drooled over the Datsun 240Z
Thank you, kyri. this particular pickup was driven by a Gypsy peddling potatoes. The buggers, use loudspeakers to hawk their ware, waking up entire neighborhoods, darn them!
I thought it was your car, LOL, great shot.
