your subject is oof. perhaps try reshooting, and use a manual focus to get the pencils clearly in view.

Thanks for the advice and I completely agree...I didn't even realize how out of focus they really were.

Nikita, not necessarily, the contest is about alleyways and this is just a title.
Morover, a lot of entries in photography contests belong to a serie, even more, there are authors with a marked style and you could guess easily the author.
