This little guy was stuck in a spider's web, hanging in front of the side of our boat. I ran in and got my camera, and then set it free for being such a cooperative model. (5 years and 391 days ago)
I was wondering how you managed to get a totally white background till I read your comment. I think it might have been better if you had managed to get the spiderweb too. There is also chromatic aberation on the insects legs which you might want to fix in post processing. That purple and green tint on the legs looks unnatural. Good luck in the contest.
Thanks for the comment. I worked on the aberation. I hadn't even noticed it before.

This is a common housefly in a spider's web. Look closely at its leg and you'll see a very tiny deer mite. (5 years and 568 days ago)
Isn't it wonderful that we share our beautiful earth with these beasts....you sure got macro macro macro....3 in one shot.....a wee bit fuzzy.
Yeah, I didn't (couldn't) actually see that when I took the shot. I just stumbled upon it when I was looking at the larger picture. It is a bit fuzzy because this wasn't a true macro, it's an EXTREME crop. I don't expect it to place or anything, I just thought it was kind of cool and wanted to share.
I love it when photographers post images that are interesting versus perfect because we all learn. What you have taught me is that if you look close enough you can find a photograph. Thanks.
Thanks. It does look a lot clearer in high res, though.

Macro of the head of a hornet showing the two compound and three simple eyes. (5 years and 800 days ago)
What a great close-up well scary
I think the hornet was close enough to hit the shutter button, in which case if it did happen, an objection may be raised that the hornet was the author of this image?
This picture is beautiful but too small for my taste (only 880x900 pixels)
