friiskiwi - Thank you for your question. It is a shadow. The bug is crawling along the edge of the leaf and the early morning sun casts the shadow. I cropped the insect out leaving only the shadow. I have the un cropped photograph if you would like to see it as well. I do have some silhouettes of other insects and they appear differently on the leaf.

Thank you friiskiwi. I have read the SBS instructions but at this moment I can not find out how to post the photograph. I have gone into tutorials etc and read what I see to read. I am not the most savy computer person so please bear with me until I figure it out or if you would be so kind to offer a hint on what I may be missing, I would appreciate that very much. Also if there is another method I might use such as emailing the photograph to someone I could do that. Lastly I could just post the original as a contest photograph and then take it down if that is a possibility. I am happy to comply since I took the photograph early this morning and I am happy to think others may believe it to be a silhouette rather than a shadow. I like the rigid rules on the contests that appear to apply to the subject matter. Thank you for you time and input. Sorry for the time consuming process on this one.

OMG! You must be roaring with laughter at such a simple process that I was making WAY to difficult. I put the photograph in the SBS on the entry page. Oh my, my, my. So simple. Thanks. That is a lesson I will not have to relearn. One day I will have it all together with this process. It is fun. Thanks again friiskiwi.
