what an interesting insect. GL
Thank you! Just a common stone centipede, an inch long at the most.
LOVE the DOF on this one
Ugh. You won't say interesting if you've ever been bit by one. The big centipeeds are mean suckers! See that big claw underneath their head? Iif you get stung, the pain is so bad, you pass out. Or so I've heard
Probably more IMO, but these things creep me the F**K out. GL!
What a wonderful photo!! Love the color and DOF!
WOW! Love the color and perspective. Josh... that's interesting. I never knew this guys stung!
They get up to a foot in length in Hawaii. They are nasty suckers! We have them in Utah too but in comparison to the ones I've seen in Hawaii, you don't mess with them.
very interesting and great shot too...gl
Love the blue here = )

nice moment
took me a second to figure what was so "split second" about it but now it makes me smile! Good shot.
sorry author, I don't see so much 'split second timing' here. this is a guard, performing a regular movement. it is not difficult to shoot such a thing imo.
Well, adein, unless someone has clocked the guard's movement, i.e. the time span between raising his foot and bringing it hard down on the pavement, I should think that, what you say, it's open to all kinds of interpretation. No big deal, nevertheless. If you think you should stick to your guns, then just red-flag it, and this I say in good faith.
I would say it's split second... not that easy to capture it just right and have the foot look like it's stepping up a stair. IMO of course.
Thank you, MnMCarta
I suppose you could say any movement caught in higher shutter speed is "split-second," but this isn't exactly catching a sprinter as s/he breaks the tape.
You can't tell for sure unless you clock it, but, judging by the swaying of the tussel, also by the fact that his raised foot appears to be a bit blurry, as compared to his right one, one can guess that this is a swift motion, kyri.
