Storm moving in tonight, and I just got lucky enough to get a shot of "sheet lightning". I am attaching the prior image in an SBS for comparison. (5 years and 2914 days ago)
Point and shoot camera, 1'' shutter, used my bike as a tripod. Took a while but I got it. (5 years and 2915 days ago)
Nice, I like this. Might crop just a little off the top (but leave that light/dark "border" in the clouds) - should you be out on your bike in weather like that?
A vertical crop would leave all of the drama but delete a lot of the black spaces.
Very well done, requiring patience and timing.

Wow, this is amazing
Love the clarity and the shape of the lightning as well as the dramatic colour of the sky itself. The silhouette adds the interesting element for the overall photo
Very cool. Love the color and different bolts. Might crop just a little off the bottom
Spectacular!

Nice shot. I've been wanting to take some lightning pics. Any suggestions on camera settings that would be helpful?
what I did was set my camera in Bulb mode then used a remote button , keeping my shutter open for no more then 30 seconds to capture a shot.
I wish I could get a shot like that

Thnaks for the SBS, makes a real difference to this photo
You are very welcome. When I looked at the shot it really just looks like the sun shining through, so I thought it would help, for everyone to see the prior to show it was night.
Yes, the SBS was a great idea. Quite a dramatic difference
Thank you Kyricom. I was so excited to just get the shot, since I am very new to all this. When I came in and looked at it, I was a bit disappointed that it looked like the sun, but relieved when, I saw the prior shot! Any suggestions on how to get good lightning shots?
