This is the corpse of a spider I found in our basement. Ugly in that some are uncomfortable with spiders, death, and mold to begin with, yet lovely in the contrast and form they created. (5 years and 3019 days ago)

Thanks for the nice comments. I imagine normally they wouldn't get like this, but our basement is not a finished area. It's mainly a hole under the house with some shelves, the water heater, and the fuse box. We don't really go down there very often. It's constantly dark and very cool, even in the summer. I'd guess these conditions led to his preservation in this way.
