i thought the same thing kyricom, but alas, i couldn't get a good angle and allow more sky without comprimising the quality of the detail in the building. its really quite small for a grain elevator as most farm community people know. this grain elevator probably hasn't been in operation for 30+ years...and has seen a few tornadoes come its way. that is what happened to the tin on the side. :P there was a grain bin next to it that had been completely crushed by the last tornado that went through that area.

THE HDR has brightened it too much, almost looks cheerful.

I agree with ya friiskiwi... but the only way this shot would have worked is with the HDR... I tried to keep it "realistic" and since it is in "paradise" thought the colors worked. I wanted the wall writing to show up. I will play with the brightness and resubmit if it works for me.

Hdr shots just look fake. They look like cgi or a video game not photography. I know people love the wow factor though. I respect what you are doing I just think they belong in there own category

Not all HDR looks fake, there are many different ways to edit HDR. The entire concept of HDR is to bring a higher range to an image, if a photographer decides to overdo it or over saturate it thats completely up to them but it doesn't mean that all HDR has to look that way. So to say it looks fake and belongs in it's own category is kind of an ignorant statement. You could say that a particular shot looks fake but not that all HDR does. If you were to see an HDR image that was done the way HDR was originally intended you would not be able to tell just by looking at it, it would have to be pointed out to you.

the high res on this shot is something to be appreciative of. i dig the tagging on the wall...the things that people who came before you left as messages. "this is paradise" on one part and "death to tourists" on another...quite the contradiction. but.. nicely done. i keep sayin i'm going to try hdr just to say i did it. Good luck!

Could someone please tell me how to make this photo sit the right way up?

I'm presuming you are REALLY new to photo editing. I am also presuming you do not have photoshop, a standard most of us use for photo editing. This is an outstanding photo. (when you tilt your head to the right at a 90 degree angle)

If you are using windows, you can easily rotate the image in the default picture viewer. Mac I am sure has something similar. Once you get it fixed, go to my stuff/my contests/edit entry. Make sure you upload a high res. Just check the box when uploading.

I had this happen to me before as well, I tried everything I could but it would not load in the right direction.

Thanks everyone, I have uploaded it again but it still comes out the wrong way maybe I'll rotate to landscape and then upload it again and see if it turns out portrait? hahaha some how I don't think that will work.

Oh man! Would you believe I've tried to upload this 6 times already, I tried rotating the image clockwise and uploading each time and it would go every way but the right way? Well I have to say I like it upside down rather then sideways. Geeez.

I downloaded it to my desktop rotate it & there was a beautiful photo.
