Lips in Lamp Light - created by Robart523

I had my model where extremely red lipstick. Then I desaturated the entire image a lot and because red was the only prominent color I think it really pops now. I'd love to select just the lips and really push it further, but that would be for a photoshop contest :) I also had to use a curses move to brighten it up a bit. As well as a bit of overall color correction to give it that sorta green tone, and some contrast adjusting. The whole image was lit by one light bulb in a hallway. (5 years and 3105 days ago)

Thanks!!! I'm rather pleased with it we did take a ton of pictures till I got one where I liked what the smoke was doing. Went through about three cigarettes in an hour (EWWW)

3 cigarettes an hour...
that's my normal average, must be the stress from modding

Great shot ! Perfect mood.

author says:

Thanks, there is nothing like one directional harsh light and a little desaturating to give a picture some powerful mood

I hope this is a good example about "Film Noir". Tell me what you think.

This is a nice example. It could have been a scene from one of the films

avatar magicsteve

Right on topic! Any chance of uploading a high res though? Great shot!

One Word "Perfect"

avatar adeincyprus

the idea is good, but the shot is not as well executed as the idea! It is not very well focused, and there are two nasty holes to the upper and left of the painting on the back wall.

author says:

Thank you for the comments much appreciated.
Ade, the 2 wholes are already in the wall, I can't take them out, the church is too old, but thank you for your comment, much appreciated.

Very nice shot - would love to see a highres!

author says:

Oups, my bad, I was editing some words and I think I did not set it for High resolution again, it is on high resolution now again

avatar adeincyprus

author, those holes I spoke of are not in the wall, they are in the picture!!

'Film Noir is a style of movies characterized by low-key lighting, usually in an urban setting, with corrupt or cynical characters'................I do not really consider a wedding to fit this description..........

author says:

I just saw them and surprized about it, the pictures are digital but 8 years ago. The picture is taking B/W not changed later, I posted if it is an example of "Film Noir" and ever one accepted the entry Ade, but maybe you have another look on things witch I appreciate alot. Thank you again!

i think if you just zoom in to the groom ( i believe thats the man in the front with the fancy suit  ) look at that face! he's looking pretty corrupt
anyway.. humorous lookinto the high res. because i'd never have noticed the looks on half those faces without it. :P

This is a water drop on a dark letter.

avatar kyricom
kyricom says:

This is an exceptionally cool shot, but I'm not sure I see the connection to film noir

author says:

My idea is that it is connected by the contrasted, dark world, it represents. I think that is called artistic freedom.

avatar Neleous
Neleous says:

Very good shot! also slightly confused about the relation to the film noir but i guess artistic freedom counts for something =)

avatar locksmagic

Oh joy the artistic freedom line again! I love that all encompassing phrase. You say "artistic freedom", I hear "I'm full of crap and don't have a good argument". This is an absolutely gorgeous shot, it is well done to say the least but it has absolutely nothing to do with the theme!

author says:

Artistic freedom was just a joke! You know what smiley meens, don't you?! Just take a low vote, and be cool!

avatar locksmagic

Author, this is what I hate. On the the one hand this is a superb photo and I wanted to vote high for that reason, but on the other I don't feel it's on theme and that frustrates me to no end. I don't mean to single you out because you certainly are not the only entry that I feel is off theme. So weather it gets pulled or stays, wins or loses I do wish you the best of luck.

author says:

My comment wasn't an attack! It is maybe really off theme, but when i took this picture, my first thought was film noir, beacouse of the style... But I totally understand your view!

avatar cocor
cocor says:

Have you never seen a small detail being focussed in noir movies??? The killer drank some water, a drop fell from his lips and they are going to analyse the DNA and arrest the guy, come on all of you, it's so clear (and on topic)!

avatar dollmommy
dollmommy says:

Nicely shot. gl

avatar adeincyprus

cocor, there was no dna analysing in the 50's...........lol

avatar adeincyprus

locks, I only ever vote on the artistic and technical merits of the shot............if it is off topic, then the mods and users will see to it that it gets removed...........

avatar JoeCacia

Well it work for me, one of the best shots!
