A resonator gitar. Dobro - "Dobro" is both a contraction of "Dopyera brothers" (who invented it) and a word meaning "goodness" in their native Slovak (and also in most Slavic languages). An early company motto was "Dobro means good in any language." (5 years and 2420 days ago)

jerostone - Thank you for your comment and observation. Perhaps R Rhoades but mostly for old time country started primarily by Roy Acuff and others in traditional country music. Sometimes called the slide gitar or steel gitar in general terms. Great sound.
