All the people living in the area and the shop owners were kicked off their properties by the government so more land could be excavated. Re-settlement was promised but not given.
This was pre-revolution, but I doubt things have got better. (5 years and 2463 days ago)
Great capture. I like the lighting balance. Getting the rocky hills in the background really convey the remoteness and abandonment.
