just a question, can you explain, to me, how you got the rest of the picture in black and white?

Thanks author for the information and as more I am seeing this image I'm getting in love with it.. specially what the sign reads.. But, there is always a but , selecting editing is not allowed in the photography contests.. this looks so good.. I wonder why you went with the first version.. welcome back.

I don't know what are you shooting with,but keep in mind that flash washes away colors & creates nasty shadows if it's used directly on the subject/person.
The theme asks for hearts,so it would be good to use a softer/warm light source to bring out the feeling...
