This a great effort, but, imo, there could have been just a little more 'shift' in the images.

nice image -- but to me the effect is in reverse -- are you sure the image are not swapped --- I have used stereo pairs of air photos for surveying and mapping projects for years and swapped images have hills as valleys and visa versa -- that is what I am seeing with this pair

You guys sure it's not your eyes? You know how they go once you're on the downside of the hill! I just followed the directions that were given in the theme. I took the initial shot, and then moved it about three inches to the right and re-took the shot. The left shot is on the left, and the right one is on the right.

no disrespect to you author, but I cannot see how this made 2nd place..... I have looked at this so many times, and the stereo effect just is not right. There is almost a transparency when the two images are combined, that is not right. It is not sour grapes, I like the colors and stuff, but the stereo effect just does not work. I can only assume that the voters did it on an 'I like this pic' basis, as the 3rd position entry suffers a similar problem, only worse, and the entry in 6th..........well.........what can I say.

Once I reversed the image at home it was very clear, this has wonderful depth and is a great photo. Have to remember though when doing these, the left eye sees the right image and the same vice versa. To simply say this doesn't deserve to be second explores no positive enforcement what so ever, in this community we are just that,,a community that helps one another and the previous comment IMO was a terrible show of sportsmanship. The photo was was well arranged and had great lighting and composure, more than I can say for my Windmill photo which later I regretted posting lol. Great job and congrats!

ahhhh, the life! I wish I could see this in color though.

It is kind of peaceful around here (a main reason why I like it), but the snow has only been gone here for about a week, and there isn't much color to see. Mainly brown, with grass just starting to show. I thought the black nd white looked far better. Thanks for the comment

The picture looks really flat for one and two, there's not much to look at (which may be what you were getting at though)
Maybe try getting a picture the downtown area of your town.
If you stick with this picture though, I would definitely take it into photoshop or other program and mess with the "curves" and "saturation" to give it some color and depth.

Another idea if there's nothing in your town, take a picture down the road as far as your camera will take it so it shows how rural it is or something.
