Shot taken with IR filter (5 years and 3484 days ago)
Topic wise, I really like the picture. Burned out matches look really nice. At first look the matches themselves stick out easily for the eye to see them. Though the picture is little dark, maybe too dark. The matches kinda melt to the darkness(though it's slightly better at high resolution) so it's hard to see any details on the matches. Also at high resolution it's clear that the image is soft. To avoid this use a tripod, a table or anything you can put your camera nicely so that it won't move all too much after you push the trigger.
Definitely a nice image for your first attempt, nyaa. Keep it up and you'll get some excellent pictures.
Absolutely stunning!
Agrees
Love the feel of this image!! Best of Luck =)
sorry, am I missing something...........I see desaturated grass, and glass, but no white!.............great shot, but, imo, ot.
here I agree with ade.. its a lovely shot but I see other tones of colors than white..
what is white?
are you asking 'what is white' as in what is white in the shot, or are you asking exactly what is white, as in the definition of white?
Ha! Ade I had the exact same question last night!
Here's my thoughts. If this was indeed taken with an IR filter then the grass isn't desaturated it is indeed white, or at least we view it as white. Anytime you shoot in IR the sky will appear black and anything with chlorophyll will appear white i.e. grass. It's true that to our eye this grass would appear green, but to the camera's eye it looks white. Just looking at the channels would show us that.
http://www.tutorial9.net/photography/infrared-photography/ answers a lot of questions about infrared photography
Well IMO, if our eyes sees most white in the shot , its on theme. Even if its desaturated or not, that wouldn't matter as long as it looks white. When we say the color white should be on focus, that is more figurative than literal...
Well let me put my neck back in the noose.
I don't believe how it was taken automatically qualifies it as a great shot. Personally I believe the top half of the image is ruining it for the bottom half. If this image was of the grass and the bottle I could really appreciate it, but for me background of sky and trees, which have not been handled with loving care by the IR filter are a non contributing part of this image.
Ok, I am on the chair, you can push now.
OK...(not pushing)...I believe it WAS taken with an IR filter,a nd depending on the frequency of the filter ie...720nM or 650, 900 and so fourth, depends on which colors are blocked and "allowed".
Ziggy, I certainly wouldn't push but.... I do have to disagree with you completely. What made this shot for me was the fact that the trees and sky weren't in focus. I think it adds an ethereal look to to it and helps draw you're focus to the bottle.
And you are entitled to disagree with me completely, the beauty is, in the end neither of us are right and neither of us are wrong. I think that is pretty cool.
all good arguments, but, and I still say it...............there is no 'dominating' white in the shot, as per the guide requirements. The desaturated/ir filtered grass is gray......the bottle is still glass......and the upper of the shot is a mish mash of darks and lights. The shot has it's own merits, I am not saying I do not like it, just that, imo, it is ot because of the lack of white!
I am also having troubles seeing a lot of white.. but then again.. i was booked in to see the optometrist
Actually, I'm rather amazed at the sharp foreground and bottle, i have been trying a bit of IR lately and everything on my camera gets kinda "soft and noisy" nothing is as sharp as this...author, any tips?
i agree with Ade, overall this is a nice photo..but i say it is off theme. the only thing that is white in this photo that little spot.
First of all: I think someone have push on the red flag button and my photo is already here: the admin think i'm on the theme!
@itsmymoment: I used 3 condition: I don't use a classic R72 but R76(better contrast), my camera have a very good noise reduction: Nikon D90 and finally, I take this shot on a spot where they are never any wind!
@everyone: thanks for like it
Sorry for my english!
its nice ......... all the best .........
Here's my two cents. I like it! In fact I feel it's one the the better entries so I disagree as far as being off theme. Wiseman, the grass is white. I feel there's plenty to dominate the shot. I really need to look into getting some of these filters. GL to you author! High marks from me.
Dontcha just love controversy.
