Difficult (not impossible) to find Pinoli here in Brazil, very expensive, sometimes we choose other nuts, but the essence remains.

pine nuts you can substitute chopped nuts, but I think the problem is the basil.
outside our territory, even in Italy, the basil plants are very nice, but the leaves too fragrant. a bit 'as some wines when changing area.
but it will be a nice sauce

and very good photo, bravo

Here we can find several types of basil, my wife even has a vase at home with three types (which can not only supply a Pesto sauce, otherwise it ends up). Have no way to compare it with a genuine Genovese, but still allows it to be one of my favorites ...

Pesto sauce : basil, pine nuts, garlic, salt, Parmesan cheese, extra virgin olive oil.
The photo was taken pretty quickly .. I had to eat :))
