Nice shot, but this is more of a dock than a pier (and you need to remove the watermark at this site)
Dock: The area of water between two piers or alongside a pier that receives a ship for loading, unloading, or repairs. (American Heritage Dictionary).
To me, this is a pier.

well done for going out in that.
Interesting set of storms..nine trees down.
Charlie really kicked my in-laws behinds. They lost their house (but most of the FEMA money went to folks in Miami who barely got hit)
Sorry about your parents. Charlie really caught us all of guard. I drove towards South Florida the day after to check on some condo damage and missed the best photo ever...just entering Palm Beach county on the Fla Turnpike, we drove through approximately one mile of Police cars from counties all over Florida and Georgia lining both sides of the highway that were about to petrol the areas of damaged Palm Beach mansion to stop looting. The photo would have made every paper in the nation. I've never driven without a camera close at hand since.
Yeah, they come from all over the state to protect the rich... but the normal people are on their own. What wasn't destroyed by the storm, my in-laws lost to looters.
I mis-stated the sitution. The entire East coast was under a police watch and a 10 pm curfew was in effect to attempt protect a very large area.. Driving through there was like a movie set of devastation with completely empty streets. I'm sorry for your parents. Hopefully they recovered ok.
