did you desaturate all levels except red?

No desauration. This white feather was dipped in red paint and held by a white glove in front of a white construction board. with a small light to generate the shadow. I then used levels and some contrast to blend all of the whites together. It didn't effect the red. I have other shots without the light which show more texture.

Here's another take on the same shot that's less blown out. Better !

If it's in captivity you can Author, only the wild ones are toxic. Although I doubt he'd like to be pet! I used to keep dart frogs and these blue azureus were my favs!
