Lovely photo, but if I understand the directions correctly, this is off theme. The main object is sharp and everything else OOF, nothing gradual in the depth of field here.
Sorry if I'm wrong, just trying to get my head around this one.
I haven't voted yet, in-case I'm wrong.

In my personal opinion, this is a lovely photo, with perfect DOF,
But this is what they asked for;
"The challenge in DOF photography is managing to let the sharpness gradually decrease on each side of the main subject."
I'm confused.

I think it falls off just fine, look at the stem of the flower for example. Or how the front petals are more in focus than the back. Great job Author.
