Super shot. Wonderful face and great texture in the clothes. He is a contented man at peace with himself - probably a village headman to whom wise decisions come easily. The light emphasises the face but the rest of the shot is still detailed. Great!!

author says:

Thank you, your comments and insights are always welcome.

I like this portrait but I don't like this black background cut out

author says:

You need to tell me how I could improve and not that just a black background cut out sucks. Ideas and suggestions greatly awaited ...thank you

This is just my opinion: leave a natural picture will always be better than a cut always very difficult to perform.

author says:

Good, I appreciate knowing that so you got 5+ points! ! ! ! Don't be shy to give me your opinions PLEASE.

Clever one this and the slightly hidden face adds that air of mystery

author says:

It was a last minute decision to crop it this way....thank you for saying that, I agree with you.

avatar Adam773
Adam773 says:

Great composition - textured sections above and below the eyes. The image gets the viewer thinking because of the title 'Samurai' but the face is half hidden by a decorative fan. Is that a contradiction - I wonder what is going on!?

author says:

I struggled with that composition so thank you for saying that. I kept cropping and yelling at the samurai "do you like it this way?"....bye the way, I used skin softener on this face.

Unusual portrait and just makes you wonder why the mask

author says:

Well, if you look at his environment, and look at his eyes (especially his left eye is really red) you will see that the little threads of burlap float freely in the air. He is exposed to this all day handling those bags. To cover his mouth, to prevent inhalation of these particles is a wise thing to do. Thank you for stopping by.

thanks for the info

What a great shot. Superb eye contact - excellent composition with the figure surrounded by the sacks to give context and texture. Some great colour but the palette is well controlled and not too vivid which retains the environment in which the subject works.

author says:

Thank you, appreciate the comments. This guy stopped working and posed for me....I LOVE NEPAL. I just gave you 5 thumbs up to encourage you to keep reviewing....that is so missing on this site.
