No you don't if you just edit your existing photo. Go to "My Stuff", then "My contest entries". Once you locate your entry, there is an option to edit it. When you upload this way, there is a check box near the bottom that says "Also save full resolution image." This gives a better version to look at of your photo but does not change any votes or views of the existing entry. This can be done right up until the contest closes for voting. You only lose views and votes if you start again with a new entry, not by editing an existing one. I hope this helps, because entries can be seen much clearer when you look at them in the high res version.
