This monument on Calton Hill in Edinburgh was intended to be another Parthenon and to commemorate Scottish Soldiers killed in the Napoleonic wars. Construction started in 1826 but work was stopped in 1829 when the building was only partially built due to lack of money. It has never been completed, leading to the nickname, "Scotland's Disgrace". The controversial Scottish Parliament Building was scheduled to open in 2001, it did so in 2004, more than three years late with an estimated final cost of £414 million, many times higher than initial estimates of between £10m and £40m. (5 years and 2938 days ago)
Ummm. So what's the ugly and what's the lovely visually, here?
I think the idea of it being ugly is that it's this ultra modern building that is sitting right at the end of the Royal Mile and right next to Holyrood Palace (sp?) so it's clashing with the old style architecture that surrounds the new building. At least that's what I get from it being entered into this category. I personally love the building and this picture captures it perfectly

Nice shot, perhaps just a little too light.
nice capture......... I might have cropped just a little closer to the sporran, to enhance the deatil in it, and lose the peripheral details to the sides of the shot. Also, as Kiwi has said, it is a little light.
