It looks like you used a flash for this shot.Flash creates "nasty" shadows (in this case).
You should use flash if you want to reveal/hide parts of your composition.If you want to create a sense of mystery,let the viewers imagination travel though your photograph flash is the best choice you can have but in this case is not.You could use a lamp or any other light source,lighting the subject from left or right or even from above or behind !The background is white & makes it hard for your composition to stand out "pop out" & manifested.

I appreciate your comments. I used some level revisions just for fun. I liked the contrast between the fruit and glass, but I guess it just has no depth. Just experimenting.
