Yes, on this site "favs" are relatively rare, and quite a nice compliment. Just having friends fav your shots not only removes anonymity, but may actually cause some kind of voting backlash and result in a lower finish than a nice photo like this might otherwise achieve.

Maybe a little more explanation to the newbie... New accounts have a vote power of 1 vote... just one. Older members, those who have earned there place, have a vote power of up to 50 votes. It is not about how many votes you get but the score these voters give you. New member votes have little impact on a final score.
There is no material prize for these contests. You gain nothing except lack of respect when trying to mess with the system.
