The picture shows a net, which represents bondage. Used for animals. Used for prisoners. It may be pleasing for one, but a bondage for someone else. Sad but true. (5 years and 2488 days ago)
Stripes, which represent absolute energy, can represent monotonicity as well. The picture shows a good old diary. (5 years and 2488 days ago)
My opinion is that the focus should have been done on the foreground instead of the background. Due to the small DOF you used, We have here the sensation that everything is out of focus.
i have the kind of shot you are talking about. but, what i felt is that if i blur the foreground and focus on the background, the person is urged to watch the photograph till the end. had i focused on the foreground, i think the depth would have been absent.
thanks for the comment btw. will keep in mind.
I see no stripes. IMO it's off theme.
what are stripes basically? repititve patterns of some definite shapes. i see them!

American Motors 1968-70 built steel framed muscle cars with 375hp back in the day. This is the rusted hulk of one of them in a junk yard with the emblem. I did not take out the pine needles. (5 years and 2488 days ago)

A small spider has its web covered with rain droplets. The web is attached to the rose bushes. (5 years and 2488 days ago)
The photo is beautiful, really. But it is not on theme.
I feel the lines leading to the centre can be considered stripes and there are several squares in the web too.
Thank you for your observations and comments. The contest caption did show a spider web and I had just taken this one. The spider is very small and its web is attached to the small rose. I did not want to destroy the rose nor the web as I walked thru the garden in the early morning light. I thought the lines looked enough like stripes at the time but should you have thought otherwise I would have enjoyed the image regardless. Thanks again.
