Uploaded original photo which is better suited that forcing a close-up.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of camera do you use? It left an odd painterly effect when I viewed the high resolution.
Shot in 2004 with a Nikon D70. I added more sharpening in camera raw and lightened the exposure level with a gamma correction. She was a lot prettier than my shot reflects.
surprising it got that effect. It literally looks like brush strokes. I bet she was prettier; I'd love to see a black swan.
Yep, this is a better picture! The whole shot is better and a lot clearer without the forced close-up.

Being that swans are mostly white and the mist on the water already leads to decreased saturation of color, the result is nearly B&W....for the spirit of the contest, although a wonderful shot, I think the subject could have been better chosen...
