Leave it to husbands to compliment you in that "special" way...These Pretzel Rolls were the result of several hours of effort, including a hot lye bath, with goggles, rubber gloves, and long sleeves, not to mention the hunt for ingredients (Pretzel salt is NOT obtainable locally - I had to settle for coarse ground Sea Salt from Whole Foods...). But it was a fun adventure in baking! (5 years and 3007 days ago)
Nice composition!
Wow! That's alot of work for some bread! You're much more patient than me !
If possible, you may want to consider re-shooting. The photo is a bit out of focus and you always want to remember that your background is as important as the subject you are shooting. If you can't reshoot, maybe crop tighter and try sharpening a bit. Good luck author!
Never heard of Pretzel rolls, sounds like a lot of work and dangerous too, how did they taste?
The red can at the top right part distracts from the subject.
The lines of the background are interessant but should fill your whole picture.
The biggest problem here is the lack of focus.
IMHO, I think you sould re-shot it or (as rbsgrl said) crop it. Remember that you do not have to show entire breads ... Why not crop on it ?
Pretzel rolls are one of the "trendy" breads at the moment in the US. The are basically like the chewy Bavarian type pretzels (as opposed to the crunchy snack type), and the lye bath gives them the dark brown outer crust without burning them - It's a chemical reaction with the starches on the surface of the dough, and the lye breaks down from the heat of baking them, so that it's not poisonous, which lye usually is.
They're quite tasty, although I found the salty topping didn't impress me -They make fabulous sandwiches, especially with ham and a bit of Dijon mustard!
I actually did crop this, as there was another batch beneath that were poorly lit. The red can at the top was the salt, but I wanted to keep the knife in the image, so the bottom of the salt container intrudes a bit.
The problem with home baked goods, is that there is seldom a chance to reshoot, as the subject matter ends up being eaten too quickly...Even when they are ugly little babies, like these were.
Nice shot, nice pretzel rolls, bad name (turds?) LOL, good luck!
The name is what the beloved hubby called them when I presented the fruits of an afternoon's labors...Didn't stop him from eating them, though!
Howdie stranger!
