This is my mothers ring, and the book is one of my favourites, when i was child, and she read from it for me every night. (5 years and 3191 days ago)
Is this scanned? I mean, did you use a camera to photograph it?
This is a journal entry I wrote on 9/10/2001, The before day NYC was attacked. I am from NYC so to have found this in a shoebox in my attic was a blessing. I will never let go of this, which is so close and dear to my heart. I hope you guys see how amazing this is as much as I do. 10 years this September, God bless the USA! (5 years and 3191 days ago)

yes jaws, i placed a white table cloth down on the table, and put an old window glass on top to flatten the paper out then took a picture of it. thanks for asking, otherwise no one would have known!
i dont know if it is allowed but i used this to help me before i took the picture..let me know if i wasnt allowed to look upon this for guidance.. i mean it was just teaching me a technique..

Of course it is allowed, and I'm sure that I learned a thing or 2 from it, thank you.
I can understand the the note is important to you, and it's an excellent shot for showing what is written on it. Good photograph to document it, but it isn't artistic, Jaws was wondering if it had been scanned/photocopied. I think you would have got a much more artistic shot, photographing it in the box, perhaps with some sunlight from a window. Do have a go at re-shooting.
thank you tons friiskiwi.. will definiteky do!
Yeah, I don't think a photocopy is allowed, I mean it's a photography contest. IF you didn't use your camera to shoot it, then it doesn't really qualify, don't you think? Try reshooting it with your camera and create more DOF, like friiskiwi suggested.
^ jawsh i shot it with a camera and used a technique how -to guide on how to photograph glass without reflection..did you read my comment correctly?
Jaws, the author was quite clear about the fact that he photographed it and how.
I like this, it's very special =)

Nice neigbourhood.
Ha! No, it's just that they are so keen in buying expensive cars. They think expensive cars help boost their social status, little morons!

i think i know who this is! btw.. great photo!!
We have seen this kind quite often, not so stunning anymore, sorry.
friiskiwi, i don't think its about the originality of the photo, but what is in the photo that fits the theme spot on..
I agree with friiskiwi. This has been done a lot and not really your idea, author.
I think the topic was to present "the most valuable/memorable items in your home." I know that this composition is mostly boring, but i used to replace my mother with the ring my feelings with the heart.
I've seen it a lot and have done it myself and still think it's beautiful. I like the different interpritations people come up with it to be honest
I love the light used! an original take on a classic shot
I am not tired of seeing it at all, especially since I am new to photography. I have only seen this done 3 times and it is still beautiful and artistic to me. Just my opinion.
Love this and the story behind the book and the ring!!
yes I do agree, this same photo is all over google when you search Love and photos. its real common.
I think every one of you who made a negative comment about this should be ashamed of yourselves. Every single one of you has posted a shot that has been overdone, is this original? No probably not but that doesn't mean it's a bad photograph. I've said it before and I'll say it again how many shots of waterdroplets on flowers do we still get that win contests, or b&w shots on a black background? If your not going to give constructive criticism then don't comment at all. One person was bad enough but 3 people!?!? And two of you are top members to boot. You should know better. If it doesn't wow you, or you thinks its to overdone fine you are certainly entitled to your own opinion but keep it to yourself, comments like that have no place here.
Very well said locksmagic!! Thank you!!!
Water droplets should NEVER win!
Oh HELL!!!! I wasn't saying it was a bad photo it was just not a very original idea and used a lot.. Sheeeesh.....
Well said Lock's.............. I couldn't have said it better myself..................unusual for me I know......
