Have you got a border on this, I'm afraid that isn't allowed.

author says:

Oh crap...it seems I accidentally took the framed one(that also had my name on it) instead of the one I made specially for here. I just changed the picture so the border and my name's gone.

Thank you very much for pointing that out to me.

Power lines are visible but not really the main focus, but that's just IMO. Try bumping u the color saturation a little. It would improve this shot. GL!

......not according to the little one eating, they appear to be quite happy.....but I would look out for the shifty looking character behind you.................

avatar kyricom
kyricom says:

I think if you crop it so the child is out, it could look like people are nervous about something/someone over to the left. But the kid makes it lose its film noir "edge"

author says:

I thought about cutting the child, but it would loose to much of the image, and even in a film noir, there would be 'innocents', totally unaware of what is going on around them.

avatar kyricom
kyricom says:

Well, it's your picture, of course. But I think if you cropped off the right (the kid) and the top, you'd increase the tension about a million percent.

author says:

Mark, You are so often, quite right. The change has been made.

Personally, I like it. That guy behind the lady doesn't look happy... and WHAT'S he hiding in his left hand, behind the woman's head?! Good Luck

I hate to be the one to bring it up... but since this isn't a just single shot ("It's a 180° panoramic image made of 11 shots" as per author)... is it legal? I hope so cuz its a great shot. I am just asking for clarification. Still getting a high vote from me!

avatar Drivenslush

this is NOT photoshopped..this is one of those continuous photos... my two cents... LET IT STAY... it's absolutely brilliant... it's perfectly obvious what the author did.. and did it brilliantly... awesome

Oh yeah.. I can see the entire picture in high res if I don't enlarge it.. that's amazing too by the way.. good luck author

avatar captgeo
captgeo says:

This HAS to be photoshopped (for stitching purposes). There is no camera I know of that combines 11 shots (per author) into one. I have a point & shoot thats does panoramas with 3 shots (all in camera) but this is wasn't done that way.

Please don't misunderstand.... I gave this a high score and hope it stays... I just want clarification from the author and mods. If this is okay then it opens up the door for more types of pics.... panoramas, HDR, etc.

author says:

I think that stitching is not the same as photoshopping (made on camera or not)... it is the same as having an ultra-wide (and ultra expensive) lens. If stitching is not allowed, cutting should be the same. These operation doesn't alter the nature of the shot (like cloning and hue manipulation), but just improve it. But this is my opinion, and obviously I am not objective with myself! Decide serenely!!!

avatar captgeo
captgeo says:

I am with you on this.... trust me. I have to agree that stitching is not the same as what can be done in photoshop but it is still an image manipulation. It is not the same as having an ultra wide angle lens however, simply due to the fact that lens wasn't used. With this logic I could make a "fake tilt-shift" photo in photoshop and say, "its the same as using an expensive tilt-shift lens". Cutting is different than stiching simply because you are taking away and not adding. By stitching you in fact did "alter the nature of the shot" by adding more shots to the original.

Okay..... in summary... I LIKE THE SHOT AND IT SHOULD STAY!!! I just wanted clarification because I am a huge fan of HDR and have always had to defend some of my shots. In my opinion HDR is the same idea... making a photo with light and dark areas better by bringing the dynamic range up more to what our eyes can see and the camera can't

avatar locksmagic

I'm with captgeo, this is image manipulation but I think it should be allowed to stay as well as HDR shots. The rule that includes photo stitching and HDR should be done away with, it isn't changing the picture or adding to it, it's simply combining several images, a practice that is widely accepted in the photo world an is allowed on every other photo site out there.

avatar captgeo
captgeo says:

This is great... i am glad this one is the winner... pretty much says "stitching is fine". Which leads to other things being "fine".
