Don't worry, that is a plastic bone. I was going to photograph the toy on it's own, but the dog wouldn't let me.

The picture looks really flat for one and two, there's not much to look at (which may be what you were getting at though)
Maybe try getting a picture the downtown area of your town.
If you stick with this picture though, I would definitely take it into photoshop or other program and mess with the "curves" and "saturation" to give it some color and depth.

Another idea if there's nothing in your town, take a picture down the road as far as your camera will take it so it shows how rural it is or something.
