Played with curves and saturation levels, contrast and crop. I really like the depth of field in it. It is best viewed in high res. :-) (5 years and 3340 days ago)
The colors are great! And the glisten of all the glass is very nice. I've a hunch who this author is.....
*edit* I was right. ;P good luck!
Of cooouuuurse they're for tobacco only. Why, who would possibly think of using them for anything else?!
they call me mellow yellow.
lol good one Author
"Mellow yellow" was heroin
thankfully I can only guess what these are used for...but I really like this shot. I'm pretty sure I know who this is too

Tobacco field next to me house. (5 years and 3447 days ago)
Lost quite a bit of vibrancy here after the upload, does anyone know why?
Mine almost always tend to do that on here, I have just gotten used to pushing my contrast past the point where I normally woud so that it turns out how I want it on here.
Yea I guess, my green was alot greener and the sky was a warm color....
We seen this one not long ago If you have uploaded in Adobe RGB instead of sRGB you will lose some of the vibrancy.... especially in the greens. Adobe RGB has a larger gamut of colour which can be lost once uploaded - most web applications can't replicate the colour range in Adobe RGB
I tried uploading one myself in the sRGB color space (I don't print my photos too often so I just use this as the default) and I still had a slight shift in vibrancy (not as bad, though). Thanks for the tip!
Oh, and great capture, author. I'm loving this contest so far!
Thank you, and I did make sure it was sRGB this time and still lost a bit. Oh well though, its ok.
And also congrats for your third place!
Thank you! Lelaina

I live in a small town in New England known primarily for growing tobacco. Instead of a house to either side of mine I have tobacco fields. (5 years and 3472 days ago)
Excellent image, I love the color contrast and the dark sky where you expect to find a blue one.
I took this on a really really nasty day, I think thats what I like most about the picture, we had thunderstorms rolling in and out all day long, this was taken at about 3:00PM, everytime it stopped raining I would run through the fields before it started again lol. Fun day. There is not alot around here to photograph unless you really really enjoy fields and overgrown forest lol...Its a struggle to get great shots.
beautiful!
Thanks you two
WOW! Love this!
I really like it, great angle too
Are these really young plants, or something? They don't look much like the tobacco I've seen. It had big, broad leaves. The shot itself is very nice, though
Kyricom, before the tobacco is planted they grow tall grass and then plow it into the soil just for the added nutrients. Should be anytime now when they will be plowing and planting the actual tobacco. Can't wait to get some shots of each process.
Hrm. Very interesting. I had no idea they did that. Thanks for the info.
They actually just plowed the grass into the field today, I will grab a pick tomorrow as long as its not still raining.
great light and angle
excellent
I understand what you mean "there is not a lot to photograph", I live in that kind of area also, but the bonus to that is, that you are challenged to really think outside the box.
amazing shot! GL
Congrats for your third place!
