Steak topped with King Crab meat and Asparagus (5 years and 2926 days ago)
The overall tone is a bit too yellow and dim, but a nice presentation on the plate.
Thanks MossyB. I couldn't put my finger on what was a little off. Light bulb went off when you mentioned the yellow and dim. It makes the steak a little darker but clears everything up enough to where it's worth the change.
I agree, it's a trade off, but looks better with the white balance of all the plates.
I hope whoever gets this doesn't love asparagus... all the other plates have a whole lot more than the front one. For me, it would need a bit more actual food, and little sauce before I'd pay what I'm sure they asked for it. Why is the plate different from all the others? Also, needed to wipe the plate clean from the drips for photography, unless they were left on purpose to show how juicy something is - in which case could use a bit more and be able to see it more clearly
The plates and the steaks are so different that I tend to think the front plate is set on a page from the cook book.
which of course is not against the rules, would be against the rules if it was done in Photoshop.
Thanks for suggesting this was expensive or at a restaurant, but it was me just dorking around in the kitchen. The plates are different because I ran out of the white plates and the ones in the background have different entrees on them. I didn’t make this meal for a picture (dinner was more on my mind), but got the idea to take a picture just as I was taking the food to the table. If I had to take this again, especially for a photo, I would have made the steak medium rare and cut it, to bring out the meat. I would also add a crab claw either on top or next to the steak to bring out the 'surf' more. Thanks for the great insights and suggestions everyone.
